My Last One

Happy Monday everyone!!!

Well, I can't really believe it, but this is my last email before going home! I'll be in Recife next Monday, so I won't be able to enter my email, and then Tuesday I'm headed home! I'll take a plane from Recife to Rio de Janeiro, from Rio to Atlanta, and from Atlanta to Utah. I'll be getting home Wednesday morning, and I am very anxious to see everyone! It'll be one of the hardest things I've ever done to leave Brasil, but I am beyond grateful for this last year and a half of my life that I was able to be here in Brasil serving the Lord. I will never regret serving a mission. It was, like everyone says, the best and the hardest thing I've ever done, and my life was changed for the better because of the experiences I've had and the people I've met here.

This week went great! We had to run from one thing to another to get everything done, but it was a fun week. We're still working with Tiago, and are preparing him for his baptism this Saturday. Keep him in your prayers!!

A fun story from the week-  an old drunk man on the street asked me to marry him and stay here in Brasil. hahahaha!

Well, I love you all, and I'LL SEE YOU SOON!!

Love,
Sister Shelton

The Signs of His Coming

Happy Monday!!!

This week went pretty great here in Escada!! We're working with our investigator Tiago like crazy, and trying to help him use the full power of the Atonement in his life! It's such a great feeling to see how someone can start to move their life for the better. Keep him in your prayers!

So, there's definitely a signs of the last days happening here in Escada right now. At the last General Conference, President Nelson said that difficult times were coming. He also told us to not use the nickname Mormon. Well, we saw a little part of why he said that this week. A group of missionaries showed up in our area, using white shirts, black pants, ties, and black bags like ours. Their name is very similar to "Mormon" and everyone is confusing them with the church of Jesus Christ. But here's the real problem- they show up at people's houses yelling at them to repent and to organize their lives, and preaching all sorts of apostasy. (multiple Gods, etc.) We already don't have a lot of support here in the city, and now with these missionaries, people are starting to hate us. But, it's just one more testimony that the church is true, because if it weren't, Satan wouldn't be working so hard against us. So, we're just going to have to work even harder to help people get to know the truth!

But other than that, things are going well here!

I hope you all have a great week, and always strive to strengthen your testimony, because difficult times are coming, and we'll have to be prepared.

Love,
Sister Shelton

Alma 5:27 "Have ye walked keeping yourselves blameless before God? Could ye say, if ye were called to die at this time, within yourselves, that ye have been sufficiently humble? That your garments have been cleansed and made white through the blood of Christ, who will come to redeem his people from their sins?"
